Scoil na mBuachaillí is situated on the edge of Newport.  The original school was opened in 1954. The classes range from 2nd to 6th. There are no multi-classes. Pupils come from the town and adjacent rural areas.

Scoil na mBuachaillí is a 9teacher school comprising of Principal, 6 mainstream class  teachers and 2 SEN teachers. We have 1.5 SNA's, a Secretary and a Caretaker.

School begins at 9.10a.m. and finishes at 2.50p.m. with two breaks during the day. The extensive play area is utilised at both break times with each class playing in its own designated area.. Children are not allowed to leave the school grounds without written permission from their parents/guardians. A signed note from parents/guardians in case of absence is required on the first day back in school.

In the case of a child being sick in school the parents/guardians will be contacted by phone. A record is kept of all names and contact numbers.

This school has an official uniform, which must be worn. It consists of a red sweatshirt with the school crest, red polo shirt with the school crest navy tracksuit pants and a red jacket with the school crest.  Chewing gum, crisps and fizzy drinks are not allowed in the school.
